Knows how to make others comfortable with new things and new people.
When she was five years old, she had her first big disagreement
with a friend. Her mother comforted her with a simple statement about
the nature of relationships: "In order to be a friend, spend less time
trying to be interesting; be more interested in your friends." It wasn't
until she was a teenager that she realized not everyone understood that
being a friend is less about you and more about others.
By the time she entered college, she
really knew how true it was - how being a friend meant investing in the
other person. And it became how she lived her life, overcoming her
shyness to listen to others and to be genuinely curious about them. She
discovered that it is as simple as "to have a friend, you have to be a
friend."
She was thrilled to become a member of
Delta Zeta, where she found the unconditional friendship that will last a
lifetime. To her, the line in the Creed which reads, "To my friends,
understanding and appreciation" isn't just something she does for them;
her sisters in Delta Zeta reciprocate equally. And she extends that
understanding and appreciation when she meets anyone, inside or outside
of the Sorority.
